Subject: Action needed now on gorse!
Date: November 16, 1999

Dear Greg and Renee,

As Tina can confirm to you, the gorse situation is horrendously worse than our tour would have suggested. The rain season is just about upon us -- maybe already upon us. There are large areas where the gorse has gotten almost to the point where only large equipment will be able to remove it -- and will get there this winter if it is not cut now. Moreover, "seed plants" are widely spread around the solid masses and will create whole new areas in the coming year if not killed this winter.

I've tried to get you to mobilize to deal with this problem, but it seems evident that you have so many other tasks that you are unable to focus the necessary attention. I am preparing a letter to send to Rusty Areas (sp?) to be signed by concerned local people that lays out the seriousness of the situation and the imperative of immediate action. I hope that this will help you to be assigned the priority on gorse that the situation demands. I will be circulating this letter for signatures over the next week. I hope, though, that you don't need to wait for this letter to be sent to begin taking the actions we agreed.

Time is of the essence.

Very concerned,

Vince
